About Us

Forbes Road Frolic portrays colonial era tavern musicians, seeking the music which would have been found in the 18th century, brought to life in the 21st century.  We are all about finding the gritty, colloquial music that was likely heard in the taverns of British America, played on instruments representative of the time and place. We research tunes and songs that are enjoyable in today’s context, but which can be dated to the 1700’s and which may well have been popular in colonial America.  Each of our instruments can be found in period artwork, firmly relating those that we play with our 18th century predecessors’ instruments. Our goal is to provide as authentic a colonial tavern music experience as possible. We hope you enjoy listening to the music of the Forbes Road Frolic just as much as we enjoy making it!
